On Sat., Jan. 30, 2010, local songwriters will be treated to a unique opportunity in Center, Texas at The Songwriting Workshop, which will afford participants the opportunity to have their songs heard and critiqued, and to receive advice from music industry experts. Hosting the event will be internationally acclaimed songstress Kasey Lansdale, who recently signed on as the newest staff writer for Nashville music publishing company, Spoon's Tunes and is making waves in Nashville and abroad.
The workshop will include two sessions, a morning session for beginners and an afternoon session for intermediate writers. Participants can register in advance by mail, phone or online. Because space is limited, advance registration is strongly recommended. Early registration fees are $15 and ends on January 2, 2010. Regular registration is $25 per person and reservations will be accepted through Mon., Jan. 25, 2010.

AWG January 2010 Meeting Reminder
Happy New Year from the AWG!
The AWG will meet on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Attoyac River Gallery on the downtown Center square. The meeting will be a general roundtable discussion and presentation of the in-house writing activity. Members are encouraged to bring their writing projects and poetry to share with the group!
A book signing event was held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 for Terri Lacher at Touch of Heaven. Terri's publication "His Name was Samson" was included in the September 2009 release of Chicken Soup for the Soul: What I Learned from the Dog. Remember to read Terri's weekly column in the Light and Champion ~ way to go, Terri!
February's meeting will be hosted by Terri and will present a writing workshop with Martha Estes from Fayetteville, Arkansas. The meeting will be held Tuesday, February 16 the gallery.
